Schools

              In the schools the Eat Smart/ Healthy Starts program will be creating bulletin boards with a mystery fruit or vegetable of the month. These bulletin boards will appear in 5 elementary schools this year and over the next 3 years it is our goal to have bulletin boards promoting healthy eating in all of the public elementary schools in Hamilton County. The Junior League volunteers will be posting new bulletin boards each month. At the end of each month a drawing will take place and a winner from each school will receive a prize.

              The cafeteria workers will also receive an apron to wear with this fun logo (to the right) on it and be asked to verbally encourage the kids to take and eat fruits and vegetables.  Recent research shows that when children are encouraged to eat their fruits and vegetables they will actually eat them most of the time.
