On Saturday April 19, 2008 Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey received an award for public service from the Tennessee Medical Association.  The TMA recognized Mayor Ramsey for his contribution to the improvement and advancement of health in the Chattanooga area through the Step ONE program.

Since Step ONE’s earliest days, County Mayor Ramsey has taken a deep and personal interest in the initiative. As a starting point, Mayor Ramsey personally went on a diet and increased his activities since he was a role model for the county. Mayor Ramsey has remained actively involved, serving as a public spokesperson, mobilizing county government to address the Step ONE goals and objectives.  The Hamilton County Health Department and the Regional Health Council are the lead agencies for Step ONE. Step ONE thanks Mayor Ramsey for his commitment and support to our program and looks forward to a healthier Hamilton County.
